The end of the school year is right around the corner and Daviess County Food Service has announced a really fun launch party for the 2025 Summer Feeding Program.

The official Summer Feeding Kick Off is scheduled for Friday, May 23rd at Daviess County High School. It's scheduled from 10am to Noon and will take place near the school's recently-renovated football field.

According to Donna Richards, who helps coordinate the event, Daviess County Food Service will have a booth for kids 18 and under. They'll receive a free meal that day and there will be information for parents that lets them know where to pick up free meals for their children throughout the summer months. More on the 2025 schedule below.

At the Kickoff, there will also be some fun activities. There will be corn hole, a ring toss, a duck pond and more.

According to Donna, they are still working to finalize this summer's feeding sites and awaiting state approval. We'll share those sites as soon as they are made public and available.

The Daviess County Summer Feeding Program, which provides FREE lunch to anyone under the age of 18, is vital to families in our area. For instance, the program served 1,700 meals per day during the Summer of 2023.
