Owensboro Man’s Front Yard Halloween Display is On Another Level
Last year, Daviess County, Kentucky resident Daymon Ward built a Halloween-themed roller coaster in his front yard and endless families visited his home on Thruston Dermont Road to take a ride on it. In Daymon's wife Karla's estimation, that coaster "required a lot of manpower."
Because of that, the coaster isn't back this year, but the couples' Deadwood Manor display is bigger than it ever has been.
Daymon has been curating his collection of giant ghouls and goblins since the coaster went in the garage last year. Karla says Daymon took full adventure of her summer trip to Greece. While she was in the Middle East, he was adding to his growing collection of oversized and frightening Halloween monsters. Those monsters are now on full display and ready for visitors at Deadwood Manor.
I stopped by a couple of evenings ago and took a bunch of photos of their 2023 display, which, this year, has a distinct entrance and exit. Yes, Daymon took the time to build rows that you walk through in his front yard. Think of Deadwood Manor as a haunted house without the house.
Here are some photos of what you'll see if you visit. As you can tell from the photo below, some of the creatures on display are disturbingly tall.
Of course, there are a few exhibits aimed at people like me- you know, people who are TERRIFIED of clowns. If I just described you, you may want to avoid this guy. He's certainly make me scream for ice cream.
Daymon has added some really unique pieces this year. I love this!
Plus, there are some usual Halloween suspects in the front yard as well. Daymon has quite a collection of wolves and witches.
Deadwood Manor even features a fire-breathing dragon.
Plus, there's a special appearance by Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas.
There's even a pipe organ!
And a bunch more ghosts and goblins that go bump in and light up the night.

And, new this year, Daymon built a smoke ring cannon! He built this thing from scratch and it works. In fact, your kids are perfectly welcome to give it a try and launch a smoke ring across the yard.
If you'd like to visit Deadwood Manor, the Wards do ask that you follow some simple rules, which are posted at the official entrance of their front-yard attraction.
Admission is FREE, though donations to New Beginnings Sexual Assault Support Services are welcome. Karla is the agency's Executive Director. And while she admits that she's positive she didn't agree to Deadwood Manor in her marriage vows, she does appreciate the fact that Daymon is willing to use his ever-growing display to raise money for her very worthy nonprofit.
You can visit Deadwood Manor at 4661 Thruston Dermont Road in Owensboro.
