Take Your Dino-Loving Kiddo to Dinosaur World in Cave City, KY

Yesterday for Father's Day, we wanted to take a little day trip, and Michael suggested we head to Cave City. There is so much to do there for families especially if you like spending time outside.

Cave City Family Fun

Kentucky Down Under gives you a taste of Australia right here in the Bluegrass. You can pet kangaroos and even explore beautiful Onyx Cave with a tour. Mammoth Cave is the world's longest known cave system. There are tons of fun shops and roadside attractions like Big Mike's Gem Shop, and more.

Dinosaur World Cave City

Dinosaur World is one of those family-friendly attractions that is a must-visit if you have a little paleontologist. We have driven by the huge Tyrannosaurus Rex on the side of the interstate many times and finally decided to pay the mini Jurassic World a visit.

Walk With the Dinosaurs

The Dino Walk is the main event with a nice and easy trail. Accessible for strollers or other wheeled devices.  When we visited, it was a really hot and sunny day, but most all of the walk was covered with tree shade. Along the path are statues of various types of dinosaurs in different scenarios and opportunities for fun photos.

We loved that you could walk to the huge dinosaur you can see from the interstate, "Photosaurus Rex." It was pretty cool to be close to the actual dino replicas. It gives you a good idea of what it would have been like to be among them when they walked the earth.

Prehistoric Fun & Learning

After the walk, you can cool off in the museum, the movie theatre, or the gift shop. Gem mining, dino playground, the excavation excursion, putt-putt, or the train ride are also fun additions to the day. You can take a cooler with drinks and snacks if you want to stay and have lunch there. It's also dog-friendly if you have a good boy or girl that would like a nice stroll.

I think Dinosaur World is best for young kids or kids with a special interest in dinos, but folks of all ages who appreciate an interesting experience will love this stop in Cave City. One of the things I enjoyed was that you could see everything in under 2 hours. So you can visit some of the other surrounding fun things while you're there in a day.
