Here's a question I've never considered until I received a Facebook message the other day...who owns Gabe's statue?

Trevor and Travis Tong, owners of City Walk of Owensboro, would love to know the answer to that question.

City Walk of Owensboro--as we discovered during a recent Bucket List visit--has a great love for Owensboro's history and, in particular, Gabe's Restaurant.

They would love to get the statue repainted to its original red jacket when it rotated on a pedestal on the corner of 18th and Triplett Streets way back in the day.

They'd also like to relocate it somewhere downtown.

I'm telling you, these guys love this city and its history.

Trevor even told me that they don't necessarily even have to buy it as long as it, somehow, manages to make its way downtown.

But it really has become the riddle of the Sphynx.

We can't locate the owners either. And having Gabe back in his original red coat and on display downtown just sounds like an extraordinary idea.

Personally, I'd love to see it happen, but there's a big hurdle to clear first.

I've got my fingers, toes, and eyes crossed that this will happen.

Let's see if this blog helps.
