News broke Friday that country superstar Dolly Parton will not partner with Gaylord to open a new water park that was to be built near the former Opryland location. The main decision to abandon the project is due to the fact that this week, Gaylord stockholders sold operation of its Opryland Resort and Convention Center to a third party.

Parton previously announced plans to build the 114-acre water park in a January news conference. Then Parton announced just last month that the project would be put on hold, pending the outcome of Gaylord's plans.

It's now unclear whether the city will forge ahead with the water park without the singer in their corner.
