It's parade season across the state of Kentucky this weekend! Because so many parades were canceled last year due to the pandemic, the excitement has been building. Who doesn't love the marching bands, beautiful floats, hot cocoa, and gathering together as a community? It's a time to ring in the holiday season and get ready for Santa to arrive from the Northpole. It's also a time for traffic issues to arise, unfortunately. But, there's always a plan in place to help!

Calhoun and Hopkinsville Christmas Parades

Residents will gather on the streets in Calhoun and Hopkinsville this Saturday, December 11th, 2021. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is encouraging drivers to seek alternate routes during this time.

You should expect road closures & detours in these areas:

• McLean County Fiscal Court will close KY 81 in Calhoun from the intersection of KY 136 at the 12.580-mile marker to East Second Street at the 11.924-mile marker for the Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 11, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

• Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation will close a portion of U.S. 68 (9th Street) from Bethel Street to Virginia Street and a portion of U.S. 41 (Main Street) from Glass Avenue to 14th Street for the annual Christmas Parade being held on Saturday, December 11, from 2:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Now, if the rain can just hold off this weekend! Children deserve to see Santa arriving on a float in a parade near you.
