This Kentucky Town is Celebrating an ‘Out of This World’ Anniversary
Every small town has at least one jewel in its crown that is celebrated with a festival or special event. Here in Owensboro, we hype our bourbon, bluegrass, and BBQ heritage multiple times throughout the year. However, there is one Kentucky town with a claim to fame that is really "Out of this world."
Kentucky History Meets The X-Files
According to local legend and eyewitness accounts, in 1955, a Hopkinsville family experienced something straight out of the X-Files. A farm in the Kelly area was visited by a flying saucer and what were described as "Little Green Men." A shoot-out ensued, but luckily, no one was harmed. Or abducted. You can read more about that wild night here.
70th Anniversary of the Kelly Green Men Incident
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the "attack," and the town is celebrating its weird and wonderful heritage. Beginning August 23rd with this "tin foil hat optional" event.

GoblinCon 2025: UFO & Paranormal Expo
Later in October of this year, Hopkinsville is playing host to what promises to be an epic weekend for paranormal enthusiasts. Over 80 vendors, workshops, and panels with special guests. You can learn more about them here. Whether your interest is in Bigfoot, the occult, cryptozoology, or Aliens, of course, there will be something for you to enjoy.
Tickets go on sale August 1st for GoblinCon 2025! You never know, maybe the Kelly Green Men will return to see what all the fuss is about and to sign autographs. They've been officially invited after all...
