It's 2025, so I'm guessing most of you have subscriptions to streaming services. And many subscribers opt to pay up to get rid of commercials. I am not among them. I grew up with commercials, and we still get along just fine. Besides, ad breaks on streaming platforms are much shorter than they are on linear television.

Voice of Tony the Tiger

Those commercials we grew up with are still etched in our brain cells and make for fun memories. If I had been able to skip the commercials while watching Saturday morning cartoons, I might never have heard the mellifluous tones of the great Thurl Ravenscroft. "Who is that?" you might ask. Well, he was the original voice of Kellogg's Frosted Flakes "spokesfeline" Tony the Tiger AND the vocalist on "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" from How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Voice of Toucan Sam

Without commercials in my childhood, we would never have watched the original Toucan Sam in a Fruit Loops ad and thought, "Wait a minute, he sounds a little like Bugs Bunny...and Foghorn Leghorn and Sylvester and..."

Good old Toucan Sam sounded like those iconic characters because his voice was provided by Mel Blanc, the Man of a Thousand Voices.

"In a World" Voice

There was a time that you couldn't watch a collection of trailers before your movie started without hearing the phrase "in a world" at least once. That deep, resonant voice belonged to Don LaFontaine. I'd never heard his name until I started researching this story, but his pipes have rightly earned him iconic status.

Growing up, we didn't know the names "Thurl Ravenscroft" and "Don LaFontaine", and, if it was long enough ago, maybe we didn't know who Mel Blanc was.

In 2025 and, really, the last couple of decades, if not more, companies have turned to big-name celebrities for voice work. If you've ever seen one the ads and thought, "Man, I'm SURE I know who that is." Well, you're right.

In a world where famous faces have also become famous voices, here are 10 that have hawked some of your favorite products.
