#1-  THE WBKR/HALLOWEEN HAVOC ROAD WAR

Yes!  This is my single favorite event of the year!  The only thing that completely bums me out is the fact that I'm in charge of the d@%n thing and can't compete in it!  It is SO much fun!  Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 22nd!  This will be the 3rd annual event and the chance for you and your team of "road warriors" to win $1,000!!  The WBKR/HALLOWEEN HAVOC ROAD WAR is the "scariest road trip in town" and basically challenges teams to solve clues that lead them from one checkpoint to another and another.  When you and your team drive up to the official starting line (Show-Me's at Towne Square Mall in Owensboro), we will zero out your odometer's trip counter and hand you a list of clues that will guide you from the starting location to the first checkpoint on the course.  At that checkpoint, you''ll get another set of clues that leads your team to checkpoint #2 and so on and so forth!  When, and if, you make it to the finish line, we'll check your mileage and see how closely you followed the clues and stayed on course!  The team with the mileage closest to the actual pre-determined distance of the course will be declared the champions and will pocket $1,000!  Admission for the WBKR/HALLOWEEN HAVOC ROAD WAR is just $5 per person.  Participants must show proof of insurance for the vehicle being used in the race and the actual driver must show proof of license.  This event is open to all ages!  Families, friends, and coworkers are welcome.

#2-  THE TRUNNELL'S FARM MARKET "FAMILY FUN ACRE"

If you want to truly feel like one of the Children of the Corn, Trunnell's Farm Market on Hwy 431 is THE place to be this Halloween season.  At the heart of the Family Fun Acre is a challenging corn maze full of twists, turns, and detours!  Last year (and this one too), I tried to tackle the corn maze during a remote broadcast and got completely LOST!  I was trapped in that maze so long buzzards starting circling above me because they knew I was dinner waiting to happen!  LOL!  This year, Trunnell's is adding yet another dimension to the maze . . . a gigantic slide you can use to zip down to the entrance!  And, don't forget the special FLASHLIGHT NIGHT (Saturday, October 22nd), that allows you to venture into the corn maze in the dark!

In addition to the corn maze, the TRUNNELL'S FAMILY FUN ACRE offers a rope maze (which is not nearly as easy as it looks!  Trust me!!), a straw maze, duck races, H&R Agripower Case IH Pedal Tractors (which tortured this particular adult's calf muscles), the Trunnell Tunnel Crawl. and more!  Perhaps one of the most exciting adventures is the hayride back to the Trunnell's Pumpkin Patch, where you can truly pick your own pumpkins!

I took my nephew, Jacob, last year and he found one split down the middle!  Naturally, he picked that one because, in his words, "This pumpkin looks like a butt!"  Hey!  What can I say?  It obviously runs in the family!

For my ADHD behind-the-scenes tour of all the excitement you can have at Trunnell's, click here!  But be warned . . . I am basically a 205-pound 8-year-old!

The TRUNNELL'S FARM MARKET "Family Fun Acre" opened September 17th and will remain open through Saturday, November 5th!  Click the link for full details, hours of operation, and admission prices.

#3-  THE TRAIL OF TREATS

Owensboro Parks and Recreation has put together one of the best trick-or-treat events in the tristate with its annual TRAIL OF TREATS!  This year's event is scheduled for 6pm to 8:30pm, Tuesday, October 25th!  TRAIL OF TREATS is part of the annual GHOSTS & GOBLINS in the park event at Moreland Park!  Businesses from all over Daviess County set up Halloween-themed booths and give out thousands of pieces of candy!  Your youngsters are encouraged to dress up and walk along the trail.  I can assure you . . . they will get bags full of goodies!  And, they'll see lots of friendly ghosts, goblins, witches, warlocks, and monsters along the way.

#4-  THE ANNUAL HALLOWEEN PARTY at O'BRYAN'S BAR & GRILL

I am not sure there's a more anticipated annual event among the bar-going adult crowd than O'Bryan's Halloween party!  This adults-only costume extravaganza is so popular, it's hard to move when you get inside the bar.  O'BRYAN'S truly packs them in for this Halloween bash that is full of some of the sexiest, skimpiest, and most hilarious and clever costumes you will see.  Throw in some live music, some Halloween drink specials and O'Bryan's setting out in the woods of West Louisville and you have all the makings of a Halloween classic!  This annual party has definitely become just that!

O'Bryan's Bar & Grill is located 7006 Hwy 815 in Owensboro, KY.  For information about the Halloween party, live music and other events at the bar and grill, give them a call at 270-229-9100 or check out the O'Bryan's page on Facebook

#5-  The WBKR Waking Crew's MONSTER MASH

Here at WBKR, we have developed our own Halloween tradition!  It started a few years back when Moon, Jaclyn and I were the morning team.

loading...

We were getting close to Halloween and decided, at the request of Jimmy Parrot, that the Waking Crew needed to slay our listeners with our own version of the "Monster Mash!"  And we did.  Actually, correction!  I laid the song out, Jaclyn cackled through the whole thing and Moon tapped out about halfway through because he was thinking about getting home and bobbing for Scotch!  But still.  A morning show Halloween tradition was born.  And it will surely continue this year!  But, in the meantime, you can get yourself in the Halloween-spirit (no pun intended) by revisiting our very first "Monster Mash!"  If I do say so myself . . . it was a GRAVEYARD SMASH!!!  (Insert more demonic laughter!!)

And, stay tuned to WBKR.com because another insanely popular event is coming back and we'll have all the details soon.  But here's a hint, boys and ghouls . . . Halloweenie Roast!   HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!!!  MUAH-HA-HA-HA!!!!
