Kentucky Mom Writes Children's Book Called Frogenstein

Cloverport, Kentucky native Hallie Popham Tisher has lived in the small Breckinridge County community her entire life. However, her rather creative and adventurous mind has taken her many places- including Brescia University in Owensboro, where she earned a degree in Medical Technology. Professionally, Hallie has worked at Owensboro Health since 2018. She works full-time, is 'Mom' to two 'rambunctious' boys and enjoys spending time with the boys, her husband and her extended family.

She's also managed to find the time to write a children's book, which is due out on Thursday, August 1st. The book? Frogenstein: A Ribbeting Tale of Mad Science. Here's how the 'silly, spooky' book came to be.

Hallie says she was having a conversation with family a couple of years ago. During that conversation, the name "Frankenstein" came up. Hallie's mom apparently misheard the word as "Frogenstein." Hallie thought that was hilarious and immediately remarked that "Frogenstein should be a book." A few days later, she embarked on the journey that would make that book a reality.

See, Hallie has enjoyed creating characters and stories since childhood. She's always kept the dream of writing and publishing a book in the back of her mind. Recently, that project has been top of mind. Now, this opportunity that she "could not let pass by" will soon be available in paperback and ebook editions. Frogenstein: A Ribbeting Tale of Mad Science will release August 1st at Amazon, Books-A-Million, Barnes & Noble and BookShop.

Hallie says she wrote the book with her four-year-old son and five-year-old niece in mind. She wanted her work to honor the original Frankenstein, but adapt the plot and themes for a young audience. Once she finished the story, she started to illustrate it as well. Hallie says, "I sketched the pictures in pencil and had my cousin, Carter Smith, make digital, colorized versions of those pictures."

Since announcing the upcoming arrival of Frogenstein, Hallie has received a ton of support from the community. Hallie admits that she's "learned a lot through the process of creating and publishing the story" and that she's excited to release the book and begin working on a new one. We can't wait to see what Dr. Frogenstein cooks up in her lab next!
