Talk about hitting me where I live: comedy and songwriters. I am a huge fan of both and BOTH will be featured on the General Jackson Showboat's new cruises coming soon to a Cumberland River near you.

This spring, the riverboat's Victorian Theatre is the place to be for comedy shows and songwriter showcases. Just like The Steve Hall and Shot Gun Red Band midday and Heart of Tennessee-A Musical Journey evening cruises, guests will enjoy a delicious southern-style buffet and, as always, spectacular views of Nashville from the Cumberland River.

Jeff Allen, who's been featured on Comedy Central's "Premium Blend" and VH1's "Standup Spotlight," will bring his family-friendly insights on marriage and teenagers to the Victorian Theatre stage on the evenings of May 19 and July 28.

On September 8 and November 1, comedian Keith Alberstadt, whose wit and sarcasm have lit up the stages of Late Night with David Letterman and NBC's "Last Comic Standing," will perform.

The General Jackson Showboat's songwriter series kicks off June 6 and continues on July 25, September 12, and November 7 with midday cruises featuring headliner Tim Nichols--the Grammy-winning composer of Tim McGraw's mega-smash "Live Like You Were Dying" and nearly two dozen other hits.

Tickets for the General Jackson cruises are available online at GeneralJackson.com, by phone at 615-458-3900 or at the General Jackson box office weekdays between 11AM and 5PM.

All aboard for an outstanding comedy-and-music-filled spring, summer, and fall aboard the General Jackson Showboat!
