George Strait Debuts New Song Called "To The Moon"

Pardon the Kelly Clarkson American Idol reference, but "Some people wait a lifetime for a moment like this." Kentucky singer-songwriter Marty Brown has been working and waiting for it for decades. Last night, it happened. George Strait took the stage at Texas A&M's Kyle Field in College Station and performed a song that Marty wrote.

Marty has been grinding in the country music business since the early 90s. Along the way, he's scored some hits and had some misses. He signed a record contract with MCA Records and released his debut album in 1991. That album (and others) fell short of expectations and he was eventually dropped from the label. As a songwriter though, in 1998, Marty had a massive success with Tracy Byrd's "I'm From the Country."

That song, which eventually peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart remains one of the most recognizable country music hits from the 90s.

Marty enjoyed a career resurrection back in 2013 when he appeared on NBC's America's Got Talent. His audition performance of "To Make You Feel My Love" immediately won over the judges and audience. It was his dedication of that song- to his wife Shellie- that made it even more special.

In a rather full circle moment, it's a song he wrote for Shellie that eventually, all these years later, got the attention of George Strait.

George will soon release his new album, Cowboys and Dreamers. Track #3 is a song called "To The Moon." Indeed, that's a song written by Marty Brown! Last night, at a sold out, record crowd at Texas A&M, George took a cue from Marty and dedicated the song to his own wife, Norma! They've been together for an incredible 52 years. Then, he stood on stage, guitar in hand and performed Marty's song.

By the way, George's concert Saturday night set the record for the "largest concert ever held in the United States." There were 107,019 fans in attendance.

Marty's biggest career aspiration has come true. He said this morning, "True love will not be denied. It will always win out no matter what life brings." Well, there's no doubt about it. Life just brought him the realization of a big dream. Love does indeed win and dreams do come true.
