Did you know that June Carter and Johnny Cash got married in Franklin, Kentucky? They did . . . on March 1st, 1968. The town of Franklin just commemorated the 50th anniversary milestone of that wedding, which is one of the most celebrated unions in the history of country music. Well, later this year, our buddy Marty Brown is paying tribute to Johnny and June Carter Cash with a special anniversary concert.
June Carter and Johnny Cash got married at the First United Methodist Church in Franklin. Their plans to get away and marry in secrecy didn't really go as planned and some fans were able to slip inside the church and witness the nuptials. Today, the whole town of Franklin celebrates!
Marty has long been a fan of Johnny Cash. Check out this YouTube performance of Marty's tribute to the Man in Black.
As I mentioned, Marty's upcoming show is a tribute to the 50th Wedding Anniversary of June Carter and Johnny Cash. Tickets are just $10 and can be purchased by calling 270-776-6814.
