‘Girls With Guitars’ Take Over Popular Kentucky Honky Tonk
When I think about supporting local music, there are a lot of popular bands and artists that come to mind. Owensboro is blessed to have so many talented musicians who collaborate with supportive restaurants and venues all around town providing live music for us all to enjoy.
Tamarra and Andy at Brasher's Lil' Nashville have made it a personal mission to provide opportunities for area singer-songwriters and bands to perform. Their honky tonk right on 2nd St. in downtown Owensboro is "where live music lives."
This coming weekend, the ladies are taking over! "Girls With Guitars" are bringing the party to Brasher's and you are not gonna want to miss it. Tamarra told me, "We wanted to host Girls with Guitars to highlight the many talented ladies in our area. It also happens to be Opening Gun/Deer Season. So this is for all of the Deer Hunter Widows to come out. Ladies supporting Ladies."
That makes me think of this cute song by Mackenzie Carpenter called Huntin' Season.
Maybe it's not all bad when your fella goes to do his thing in the woods. That means you can do whatever you want to too! Like grab your best gals and head to Brasher's. Of course, everyone is welcome. Michael and I love going there for date nights.
The takeover kicks off Friday night at 6 PM with Emma Grace Brown. I know yall know her daddy Marty Brown, and by now I'm sure you have heard of her too. It's always a treat to watch her perform. She has a great voice and stage presence. I wish I were that cool!
I am really looking forward to the "In the Round" session on Friday night at 9:30 PM with Cynthia Murray, Hayley Payne, and Molly Lovette.
The three artists will all be on stage taking turns playing and singing. Think MTV Unplugged times three where they all get to talk about the songs together, harmonize with each other, etc.
A laid-back way to experience their musical talents as well as their fun personalities.
Saturday the ladies will once again get the party going starting with songwriter and vocalist, Rachel Blalock taking the stage at 6 PM.
You better come ready to whoop it up after that, because it is going to be a blast with the all-girl band, the Purse Dive Divas! Love that name! Y'all, they are so much fun.
Then wrapping up the weekend, Rachel Blalock plays on Sunday accompanied by Brasher's epic Bloody Mary and Mimosa Bar. The "Girls With Guitars" takeover is sure to be a hoot and a "holler & swaller" if you know what I mean! If you don't, it's time to make plans to party with the ladies at Brasher's this weekend
