There's exciting news coming from the 10th oldest distillery in Kentucky. Green River Distilling Company in Owensboro--the first stop on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail--is adding to its rich history this Friday.

For more than 100 years, Green River--in its various incarnations over the years--has been distilling some of the finest bourbon in the world. By the end of the week, Green River's Kentucky Straight Bourbon, Wheated Bourbon, Single Barrel, and Rye Whiskeys will be joined by a new permanent brand.

Green River is taking its flagship bourbon and presenting it with a full-bodied, full-proof flavor. Hence the name, Green River Full Proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. While it won't launch until Friday, June 7th, connoisseurs have already had an opportunity to review the new brand. The Bourbon Kingdom guys are very impressed:

According to a Green River news release, Full Proof is "a blend of five-to-seven-year barrels selected from curated areas of Green River's Owensboro tile warehouses and feature the same mash bill as Green River Kentucky Straight Bourbon."

Green River says bourbon lovers will immediately notice a variety of flavors such as vanilla, spice, caramel, and chocolate-coated peppermints. Notes of cinnamon, dried cherry, and light leather will only enhance the rich tasting experience.

Full Proof bottlings are custom blends and will be celebrated Friday, June 7th at Green River Distilling Company with a release party in the distillery's event space from 4 PM until 6 PM and the public is invited. There will be food, music, and cocktails featuring the new Full Proof release. Bottle sales will begin at 9 AM.

Tours and tastings are available at greenriverwhiskey.com.
