Groovin’ on the Green Returns Bigger and Better Than Ever
"Do you remembah? 21st night of Septembah" If not, you sure will after Groovin' on the Green returns for a third year of incredible music that will have you dancing the night away.
Groovin' on the Green is a free concert celebrating blues, funk, jazz, and R&B, but most importantly the organizers are hoping this event will bring the community together for a good ole time! My friend Rafe Buckner shared, "The Northwest Neighborhood Alliance created Groovin' on the Green to add a different flavor to the live music scene here in Owensboro." Some artists have performed in Owensboro before, but quite a few have never been here.
"We’re excited to have violinist Maestro J and R&B group The Unlimited Show Band performing here for the first time. We’re also excited to welcome back Micheal Gough (and friends) who is a tremendous blues musician. He recently played downtown the weekend of the business music expo," Buckner said.
Previous years, this event was held at Moneta Sleet Jr. Park, but growing crowds mean the need for a bigger space. Wanting to keep the party in the Northwest Alliance area, the Convention Center front lawn seems like the perfect choice. Especially because there will need to be plenty of room for all of the awesome food vendors, arts & crafts booths, and other activities planned for this family friendly night.
So, grab your lawn chairs, tell your friends, and get your boogie shoes ready for Groovin' on the Green September 21st. Big thank you goes out to the generous sponsors of this event, Southern Star, EM Ford, Owensboro Health, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and Unifirst.
