Who’s Hoarding These? Raise Your Hand!
There is a certain store where you go in for, like, two things and come out with five, and somehow every single item gets its own bag. And those bags? Nobody is throwing those away. Apparently, we’re all hoarding them, and I didn’t realize how bad it was until recently.
THE “GIFT” I DIDN’T SEE COMING
Recently, my husband ran to the hardware store for a couple of things for the yard. Nothing major. In and out. On his way home, he texts me, “I got you a gift.”
And I’m immediately interested. I’m thinking patio plants, maybe something cute for outside. Like wow, this is thoughtful! I can't wait to see what he got me.
Then, he walks in. Holding a stack of shopping bags.
Not stuff in bags. Just the bags.
From Menards.
And I just stood there like. Oh. This is who I married, and I've trained him well!
THE BAG SITUATION
Here’s the thing, though, he knows exactly what he’s doing. Because every time he goes to Menards, every single item gets its own bag. I don’t care how small it is. A bolt? Bag. A brush? Bag. Something that could fit in your pocket? Oh, it’s getting its own bag like it’s fragile.
And these aren’t those flimsy grocery store bags that give up halfway to the car. These are thick. Reliable. You trust these bags. You could put something heavy in there and feel confident.
WE ALL HAVE THE STASH
So now we have a collection. And by collection, I mean a full-on stash.
Not out in the open either. No, no. These are tucked away. Saved. Reserved. You don’t just hand one of these out like it’s nothing.
You use them for serious situations. Road trips. Car trash that you actually want contained. That one random cabinet where everything expires. These bags have a purpose!

AM I THE ONLY ONE?
So now I need to know, are we alone here? Or are there other houses with a secret stash of these things?
Because I’m telling you right now, nothing compares. Other bags don’t even try.
I mean, I loved the gift. I really did.
But also, patio plants would’ve been nice! Maybe next time.
