Yes, I know that photo is gross, but I have been there and done that. I've had those feet before. As a matter of fact, I had those feet for years. They're ugly, they're uncomfortable and, more unfortunately, they can freaking hurt.

I have spent my entire life battling dry skin, especially in the winter time. However, I have had issues during the summer as well, particularly with my feet.  I am an athlete. I have spent the majority of my 51 years running and playing baseball, softball and tennis. My feet have taken a beating. They used to look like Brad Pitt beat the hell out of them in The Fight Club. The fact that I have perpetually dry skin made my feet even worse. There have been times in my life when my heels look like an aerial view of the Grand Canyon.

And here's the thing. I love wearing flip flops and sandals, but I wasn't able to for many years because of my gnarly hooves. I'll admit it. My feet were NASTY, Miss Jackson!  They were dry and cracked and gross. As much as I wanted to wear sandals, I would wear tennis shoes instead. It was my way of throwing a proverbial bag over my head. Except, the "bag" was covering my feet.

That is until, about a decade ago, I discovered a sure-fire solution for protecting my feet year-round. It may sound weird to you when you hear it, but I promise it works- despote the fact that my pro tip does have a slight hint of The Silence of the Lambs.

Except we're not using lotion, Kids! We're using this . . .

Seriously! Try it. It works. I lather my feet up every single morning and throw on a pair of socks. If I am going to play tennis or ride my bike, I will lather up again before I do it.  And my feet are SO incredibly soft. And, that way, when I actually do want to throw on a pair of flip flops, I can and my feet don't look like someone jammed them down into a meat grinder on the set of Saw.
