I Want to Stay in the Old Haunted Talbott Tavern in Bardstown
I am fascinated by the spirit world. But my belief in "the other side" is also what prevents me from having the kinds of experiences that others have.
I've always felt--and folks who are better at this than I am back me up--that expecting to see, hear, or feel a "presence" will always stop that sort of thing from actually happening.
Seems unfair, I know. I'm not a big skeptic, yet I can't get anything out of it.
Maybe, if I spent the night in the old Talbott Tavern in Bardstown, it would be different.
The Talbott Tavern dates back to the 1700s, a century during most of which Kentucky wasn't even a state.
Over the years, according to the Tavern's website, guests have told stories about their encounters at the historic old bed and breakfast.
One guest even claimed that the ghost of Jesse James paid a visit. Of course, how would you know the specific identity of an other-worldly visitor?
Then there's the story of encounters with the "lady in white." Now, THAT sounds appropriately creepy.
Other stories of glowing orbs and flashing lights with no camera present only add to the inn's mystique.
And let's not forget the sounds of music, chiming clocks, doors opening and closing with no one there, footsteps, etc.
I love it!
And if you think I sound silly, let me tell you about the time I was in my grandfather's apartment--the one that was attached to my parents' house--right after he passed away.
I was the only one in the whole building, and SOMEONE or someTHING tapped me on the shoulder.
I'll never forget it.
And, by the way, it's not just for ghost hunters. The Talbott Tavern features a delectable lunch and dinner menu as well as a schedule of live entertainment.
Someone's always performing at the Tavern.
And of course, it's a top-notch bed & breakfast.
It's an inn that something for everyone. And, clearly, I mean EVERYONE.
I believe I need to visit the old Talbott Tavern in Bardstown.
