Multi-Brand Cheese Recall Impacts Indiana and Kentucky
If you picked up grated cheese recently at Kroger, Sam’s Club, or another local retailer in Indiana or Kentucky, you will want to double-check your fridge.
Which Cheese Brands Are Included in the Recall
A major multi-brand cheese recall has been announced after routine testing by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration found Listeria monocytogenes contamination in products made by The Ambriola Company, a facility located in New Jersey that produces cheeses for several well-known brands sold at retailers.
Boar’s Head, Member’s Mark, Locatelli, Pinna, and Ambriola-branded Pecorino Romano cheeses are all part of the recall. Additionally, some Boar’s Head ready-to-eat salads and wraps sold at Kroger stores in Indiana and Kentucky are also affected because they contain the recalled cheese.
Why Listeria Contamination Is So Dangerous
At this time, there have been no illnesses reported. However, Listeria infections can be extremely dangerous. Those who are pregnant, as well as infants, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems, are most at risk of severe illness.
The recall covers a long list of grated Pecorino Romano cheese products sold between November 3 and November 20, 2025. They were distributed nationwide and include:
Retail Cup Products
- Locatelli Pecorino Romano Grated (4 oz and 8 oz cups)
- Boar’s Head Grated Pecorino Romano (6 oz cups)
- Member’s Mark Pecorino Romano (1.5 lb bags)
Bulk Grated Products Sold by the Pound
- Locatelli, Ambriola, Pinna, and Boar’s Head grated Romano cheese
- Multiple expiration dates ranging from early March 2026 to mid-May 2026

Retailers and Ready-to-Eat Items Impacted Locally
Some Boar’s Head Ready-to-Eat items sold at Kroger in Indiana and Kentucky have also been recalled, according to the FDA.
Packaged in clear grab-and-go containers:
- EverRoast Chicken Caesar Salad
- EverRoast Chicken Caesar Wrap
- Best By dates: November 9 to November 22, 2025
Because these items may look like routine deli salads and wraps, it would be a good idea to check labels carefully.
In a statement, Boar’s Head confirmed that only the Pecorino Romano made by Ambriola is affected. As a precaution, the company has pulled all Ambriola-made products from distribution. This includes Boar's Head items not included in the recall. According to the company, no other Boar’s Head foods are involved.

What To Do if You Have Recalled Cheese at Home
If you have any of the recalled cheeses in your home, do not eat them. They should be thrown away or returned to the store for a full refund.
When To Call a Doctor About Possible Exposure
If you experience symptoms of listeria infection like fever, severe headache, stiff neck, nausea, or diarrhea, you should contact your doctor. Anyone who is pregnant should seek medical advice immediately if exposed to recalled products.
Listeria can survive and grow in cold environments, including the refrigerator. While symptoms may be mild in some people, they can lead to miscarriages, stillbirths, bloodstream infections, and severe complications in vulnerable groups.
For anyone with questions about the recall, the Ambriola Company customer line is open Monday - Friday, 9 AM - 4 PM ET at 1-800-962-8224. The Boar’s Head consumer line is 1-800-352-6277.
