Dangerous Anker Power Banks Recalled Over Fire Risk
Before you plug your phone into a power bank to charge, make sure that it’s not on the list of currently recalled Anker power banks.
Which Anker Power Banks Are Affected by the Recall
Anker Innovations Limited has issued a recall for several of its portable power banks after reports of fire and explosion incidents. The affected models include A1647, A1652, A1257, A1681, and A1689, which were sold between August 2023 and June 2025 at Best Buy, Target, and other retailers nationwide, as well as online through Amazon, Walmart, eBay, AliExpress, and TikTok.
Why These Devices Pose a Fire Hazard
The Consumer Product Safety Commission reports 33 incidents, including four minor burn injuries and one case of significant property damage. The recalled power banks were manufactured in China and marketed for charging smartphones, laptops, and tablets, with maximum outputs ranging from 7.5W to 30W.

How to Check If Your Anker Power Bank Is Recalled
Consumers are urged to stop using the recalled power banks immediately. To check if your device is part of the recall, visit Anker’s recall page.
Refund and Replacement Instructions for Consumers
Customers can register for a full refund or an Anker gift card. However, a photo must be provided that shows the model number, serial number, as well as the consumer's name, and the date the photo was taken. Additionally, the word “recalled” must be written on the device in permanent marker.
Safe Disposal Guidelines for Recalled Batteries
Importantly, these recalled lithium-ion batteries should not be tossed in the trash or put in curbside recycling bins, as they present a fire risk. Instead, contact your local household hazardous waste facility for safe disposal.
