A recent analysis of Google search data reveals which slang terms Hoosiers are trying to decode in 2025. Unscramblerer.com reviewed search trends from January through September and ranked the most-searched slang words, both by state and nationwide.

In Indiana, the number one search was for “6-7.” Ironically enough, the phrase has no literal meaning and falls into the category of absurd “brainrot” humor, and is a reference to a song called Doot Doot (6 7). The phrase has since taken off after NBA star LaMelo Ball used it in a video about being 6 feet, 7 inches tall.
Other Slang Hoosiers Are Looking Up in 2025
Other highly searched Indiana slang terms include “sigma,” meaning a self-reliant lone wolf, “chopped” for something unattractive, and “huzz,” which has shifted from derogatory roots to mean an attractive girl or someone you want to impress.
Rounding out the list of slang terms Hoosiers have been searching for this year are newer terms like “sybau” (shut your b***h ass up), “syfm” (so you f*****g missed), and “sendy” (to go all in).
How Slang Trends Spread Across the U.S.
Nationally, “6-7” also topped the list with more than 140,000 searches. Other major terms across the U.S. include “bop,” “mogging” (outclassing someone), “big back,” and “glazing,” a dig at excessive flattery.
Words like “delulu,” short for delusional, and “clanker,” a jab at robots or AI, show how slang continues to adapt to internet culture.
Why Internet Culture Fuels These Searches
A spokesperson for Unscramblerer.com noted that TikTok, gaming, and meme culture are fueling these trends faster than ever, making slang “a fascinating mirror of our culture.”
