The Code Can Alert Law Enforcement of Potential Communication Barriers

The special code is added to the vehicle registration so in the event of a traffic stop, when the officer runs your license plate, the code will alert the officer that they may experience some communication barriers when they approach the driver.

The Code is Available to Anyone Who is Eligible

According to the Commonwealth of Kentucky's Transportation Cabinet, the addition of the code to your vehicle registration can help keep you and the officer safe. According to their website, KRS 186.032 defines eligible participants as having “a health condition or disability that may impede effective communication with a peace officer.”
