Indiana Consumers Warned as Hillshire Recalls 58 Million Pounds of Corn Dogs & Sausage Sticks
If you’ve got corn dogs or sausage-on-a-stick products tucked away in your freezer, it might be time to check the label. Hillshire Brands, a company under Tyson Foods, has issued a massive recall – we’re talking about 58 million pounds of food – after reports that pieces of wood were found in the batter.
What Products Are Being Recalled?
The recall includes certain packages (see the labels here) of State Fair Corn Dogs on a Stick and Jimmy Dean Pancakes & Sausage on a Stick. According to the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), several consumers have already reported injuries, which prompted the company to act “out of an abundance of caution.”

Important Recall Information You Need to Know
- The recalled items were made between March 17 and September 26, 2025, at a facility in Haltom City, Texas.
- These products were sold across the country, including at schools, online, and even at some Defense Department facilities.
- Packages affected by the recall should have an establishment number of "EST-582” or “P-894” printed on them.
What Consumers Should Do Next
If you find any of these in your freezer, don’t risk it – toss them out or return them to the store where you bought them. FSIS is especially concerned that some of these products could still be sitting in home freezers here in Evansville and beyond.
It’s not clear yet if refunds will be offered, but the safest move right now is to remove them from your kitchen. You can find the full list of recalled products on the FSIS or Tyson Foods websites.

Food recalls aren’t unusual – they can be caused by anything from plastic and metal fragments to, in this case, wood. But it’s always better to play it safe when it comes to what’s on your plate.
