Southern Indiana Golf Course Announces Renovations and New Name
If you are a golfer in Southern Indiana, you are undoubtedly familiar with Thunderbolt Pass. The public course on Evansville's north side has been around for a long time and has always been an affordable and less intimidating option for folks who want to play a round. We just learned that some changes are coming to Thunderbolt Pass, including renovations and a name change.
The History of Thunderbolt Pass Golf Course
The course was built back in 1974, and was originally called Hamilton Golf Course, in honor of the man who created it - PGA Tour player Bob Hamilton. It was known as Hamilton GC for the next 35 years, and then in 2009, the name of the course was changed to Thunderbolt Pass. The name was an homage to the P-52 Thunderbolt aircraft manufactured in Evansville during World War II. Now we're learning that in 2025, the course will undergo another name change.
