Justin Timberlake May Face Charges After Posting Selfie While Voting in Tennessee
Okay, so in my blog Monday, I told you about which states you can and you can't take voting/ballot selfies in and the source I looked into didn't include Tennessee in the discussion. Apparently, Tennessee is NOT one of the states where it's legal and pop star Justin Timberlake is now being investigated for this Instagram post.
Timberlake lives in Los Angeles, yet he's registered to vote in his home state of Tennessee. The actor/singer wanted to take advantage of early voting. Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam signed a bill last year that allows citizens to take their phones into the booth with them but only for "informational purposes to assist the voter in making election decisions", photos and video are not permitted. The misdemeanor charge for taking a voting selfie is 30 days in jail and/or a $50 fine.
The lesson here, double check if you can take a voting/ballot selfie. I told you all taking a pic of your "I Voted" sticker was the safest way to go!
