Kentucky Bars and Restaurants May Now Stay Open Later
It occurs to me as I write this that it's been a long time since we've had a change in the way certain Kentucky businesses may operate due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Fortunately, this is good news.
With more vaccinations being made available, and more and more people (like myself) AVAILING themselves of such opportunities, we get a real sense of a light at the end of the tunnel. Now we can't take that good feeling too much for granted and take it out for an EXTENDED spin. But we can ALWAYS be positive and appreciate the small steps that seem to represent that we seem to be headed in the right direction.
During his address to Kentucky on Thursday, Governor Andy Beshear announced three new regional vaccination sites--Cardinal Stadium and Whitney Young Elementary School in Louisville, and Kentucky Dam Village in Gilbertsville--bringing the Commonwealth's total to 570.
Additionally, the new daily case numbers continue to be low, with 785 being reported Thursday, putting Kentucky at a 3.23% positivity rate.
Beshear also announced that all Kentuckians, ages 16 years and older will be able to sign up for vaccination appointments by April 12th.
But on the entertainment front, there was news so many folks have been waiting for. And I guess it doesn't seem a like a WHOLE lot, but it's another step in the right direction.
Restaurants and bars in Kentucky will now be allowed to serve food and beverages until midnight, local time, and stay open until 1AM.
For us night owls, that IS good news.
We're getting there. We're not there yet. But we're getting there.
