Knottsville Boy’s St. Jude Fundraiser Earns State Recognition
This kid is a fundraising machine. In December, Gavin Howard of Knottsville embarked on his mission to raise as much money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as he could. With the help of his parents, Gavin designed "Peace, Love, Cure" shirts and hoodies and he's been selling them like crazy. In fact, at press time, Gavin has sold over 500 and the orders just keep rolling in. There have been stories about him in the Messenger-Inquirer, on WFIE, WAVE-3 in Louisville and here at WBKR.com. And Gavin's now getting attention from the Ky State House of Representatives, who, this week, sent Gavin a special certificate of recognition. LOOK!
First of all, State Rep and House Whip Tommy Thompson sent Gavin a very nice letter commending his efforts to raise money for the children of St. Jude. This is pretty awesome . . .
And here's the official citation from the House.
Gavin's goal was to raise $1,000 but has far exceeded that. In fact, we've asked Gavin to keep his grand total a complete secret until he visits our St. Jude Radiothon on Friday, March 7th. He will be making a guest appearance in our Celebrity Phone Bank at 4pm CST that day and will announce his grand total. We are excited beyond belief to see what this kid accomplishes. And it's great to know that those accomplishments are being noted and celebrated throughout the great state of Kentucky!
If you'd like to order one of Gavin's "Peace, Love, Cure" shirts, you can. T-shirts are $10. Long-sleeve t-shirts and sweatshirts are $15. Hoodies are $25. (Add $2 extra for sizes 2X and 3X). If you would like to order one or several, please email his mother Jenny at jen80howard@hotmail.com.
All profits and proceeds go directly to St. Jude via the WBKR St. Jude Radiothon. Those proceeds will continue the fight against childhood cancer.
