From Races To Red Carpets To Raising Money, Owensboro Racing & Gaming Shines

On February 12th, Owensboro Racing and Gaming will celebrate its one year anniversary here in Daviess County. It's hard to believe that it's already been a year since the Churchill Downs-owned facility opened to the public. It's been a tremendous year of winning and special events. WBKR's been proud to get to be along for the ride.

We love our continuing partnership and we were excited to work together on our first-ever CMA Awards Viewing Party last November. It was a 'Red Carpet Radio' extravaganza and our friends at Owensboro Racing and Gaming pulled out all the stops and were the perfect hosts.

I think it's safe to say there's a strong chance we'll be back in 2026!

Not only has Owensboro Racing and Gaming been a committed partner to the community, they have been a formidable contributor to our local nonprofits. This year's WBKR Window World St. Jude Radiothon is no exception. Our event is the recipient of a sizable donation from January's donated winnings at ORG.

How that works is very simple. The facility features a donation box in which people can place their cash out tickets that they don't want to cash out. During the month of January, Owensboro Racing and Gaming collected $3,006.16. That's incredible enough. However, our friends decided to up the proverbial ante.

In addition to the donation box total, Owensboro Racing and Gaming committed to a Partner in Hope match. During our WBKR St. Jude Radiothon, we encourage our listeners to become St. Jude Partners in Hope. It's just $19 a month for 12 months on a debit or credit card. Owensboro Racing and Gaming decided to further support the efforts of St. Jude by offering up a PIH match- up to $2500.

So, from 5pm to 7pm on Thursday, February 5th, Owensboro Racing and Gaming went to work matching the donations of people who became Partners by calling our donation line at 1-800-201-8883. We snagged that $2500 match within twenty minutes.

The end result? A total donation of $5,506.16!
