This bold initiative from Kroger is designed to end hunger in our community and help eliminate waste by 2025. Over $6 million has already been donated!

Just eighteen months ago, The Kroger Co. announced the launch of Zero Hunger | Zero Waste to end hunger in communities all over the country. Late last year Oprah Winfrey and O, teamed up with Kroger to support the initiative as well. So far, well over $6 million has been donated to end hunger in our community and across the country. There's still much more work to be done, but this is incredible!

No family in a community we serve should ever go hungry, and no food in a store we operate should ever go to waste,” said Rodney McMullen, Kroger’s chairman and CEO.

Kroger is asking citizens to help provide ideas and feedback as the effort continues to evolve and expand.

Here's what the Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Plan looks like:

More than 40 percent of the food produced in the U.S. each year goes unconsumed, while one in eight people struggle with hunger. That just doesn’t make sense,” Mr. McMullen said. “As America’s grocer and one of the largest retailers in the world, we are committing to doing something about it.”
