I'd heard about the national coin shortage and then I heard you had to use EXACT change anywhere you go if you want to make a purchase.

Then I went to Kroger in Wesleyan Park Plaza and learned what everyone who's been in one is learning. You don't need EXACT change, exactly.

What you need, if you're paying in cash, is to make sure that you will only get bills back.

For example, I was just there and my bill came to $5.47. You'd need that exact amount or you'd need $10.47, $20.47, $50.47, etc.

If you aren't able to make such a transaction and you don't have a debit/credit card handy, Kroger will offer to round it up and give you store credit for the difference (as the cashier did with me) or you can donate the difference to Kroger's Zero Hunger/Zero Waste Foundation.

The signs are there when you check out to help you understand how to manage your purchases during the shortage.

I also went to the South Frederica Walmart, but, as of this writing--June 14th, 2020 at 1:37PM, that Owensboro location is not doing that yet.
