Whitesville KY Couple Soar Past Their $60K St. Jude Radiothon Goal
If you are at all familiar with the WBKR St. Jude Radiothon, you know that Mark and Emily Shelton of Whitesville are regulars for this annual fundraising extravaganza.
And each and every year, not only do they perform, but they also set an hourly goal for themselves that always exceeds what they accomplished the previous year. In 2022, the Sheltons raised $40,000 for St. Jude Children's Children Research Hospital.
Yes, they did that in one hour's time. They always only have one hour, just like everyone else. In 2023, they went for broke and established a goal of $60,000. And at the end of their hour, Mark and Emily Shelton made $60K look like child's play.
Holy goalpost in the rear view mirror, Batman...THAT'S amazing. $74,460 with an assist from a single $30,000 donation. The generosity of those who listen to the WBKR/Window World St. Jude Radiothon knows no bounds.
Of course, you can see that St. Jude check elsewhere with the final total...a total we couldn't reach without the giving spirit of Mark and Emily Shelton and the many friends who come through when they are on the air during the St. Jude Radiothon.
Needless to say, the Sheltons keep our volunteers busy with donation slips flying everywhere. They began their hour with the announcement of a goal of 275 donations. As you heard, they only got 195 but flew past it thanks to that one big donation.
Because of their success, we always wonder what they'll go for next year. Obviously, we can't wait.
