Owensboro Man’s Generosity Sparks A Wave Of Giving From Starbucks
I have always been told it was better to give than to receive! Apparently, a local Owensboro man heard the very same thing when he made a very large and anonymous donation for those in need this week!
I received a message from Scott Walters, Starbucks Manager, for Frederica Street here in Owensboro telling me a regular customer had accumulated 4000+ "Stars" on his Starbucks rewards account.
I wasn't sure how "stars" were earned so I looked it up! Each time you pay for your purchase with a registered Starbucks Card or Starbucks Mobile app at a participating Starbucks® you will earn two [2] Stars per $1 spent on the amount of your purchase that is accruable.
Instead of redeeming them himself, he asked that they be used for donations to the Daniel Pitino Shelter. His incredible donation provided 30+ sandwiches for the Shelter. That amazing act of kindness and generosity inspired other customers to do the very same thing.
It doesn't just stop there folks, recently if you all remember our own Dave Spencer from the Drive Home did a story a few weeks ago on the items needed most by the Pitino Shelter one of those items was coffee! Well Starbucks has decided to partner with donors in the community and donations from employees any whole bean coffee bought and donated in the store will be matched 100% by Starbucks Frederica's local employees. All Customers will also receive a free $5 gift card with the purchase of the bags of holiday coffee.
What a beautiful way to celebrate the Christmas season than to show love to those less fortunate by giving back. Hats off to the anonymous donor and all the awesome Frederica Starbucks employees. I hope this sparks a wave of giving all over Owensboro and the Tri-State. The community of Owensboro never fails to amaze me. Great Job!
