When these messages come to us, I get in panic mode. Who can toss away a pet like they don't matter? How can a sweet pup like this not be worth it? Just look at this face. Imagine this face no longer having life because she wasn't worth it. Now, I'm crying so how about just read more about Pepper. How can this be?

“You are about to read a LAST, DESPERATE PLEA for the life of a very young and friendly dog currently at the Daviess County Animal Shelter in Owensboro KY. Pepper is a simply splendid little fawn and black colored Pit Bull Dog girl...a butt-waggling pure delight who weighs approximately 50lbs, and is actually an older puppy at only 1-1.5 years of age! Well socialized to a past family life, this wonderful dog is loving, playful, and very solicitous of people; adults or children, Pepper loves them all, folks! Powerfully built, yet exuding the most gentle and playful demeanor; young Pepper is happiest when she can get someone’s attention long enough for kisses and/or play! This baby doll is a perfect match for the family who has children capable of running and especially throwing balls...young Pepper promises to get each and every ball your kids throw! Notice I didn’t say that she would return them, haha....perhaps that IS in this pup’s ‘agenda’ or perhaps not...you will just have to throw the balls and see for yourself! Pepper is an absolutely great little girl, and I can tell you, unequivocally, that she is a good dog who deserves to get adopted and go on to a loved and protected life with an awesome family.  And when I and another volunteer from the Daviess County Animal Control profiled sweet Pepper months ago for Petfinder...that is precisely what we expected to happen; we would have laid odds that this fine little dog would have attracted the attention of the best family or individual, and have gotten adopted by now! Only it hasn’t happened, folks, and now I am rightfully beginning to fear for this girl’s very life. Poor little Pepper has been at this Animal Control without any interest whatsoever since February 10th, 2018. Not one person has called to inquire regarding this older little puppy,  much less possibly ask to visit  and meet this loving little girl in person...not one! Here we have an amazingly happy young dog  with the very best personality attributes one could ask for, yet Pepper spends day after day in her concrete run, hoping against hope that the next visitor walking by might just be there to see HER....only to see that visitor walk on past without even a glance! This really cannot be happening; Pepper has done absolutely nothing wrong to deserve her current situation! Apparently this little girl’s past owner has been incarcerated, making for the very real possibility that Pepper’s life could end very soon. I am filled with sheer dread for this dog, even as I have been asked by the Director at the DCAC to PLEASE make one more plea for poor Pepper...she is such a sweet girl, and so I am now appealing directly to the listeners of WBKR for help. Pepper is housebroken, HW negative, and a pure joy to be around! She loves her toys, and would be so delighted to have a wonderful family...someone to go for walks in the neighborhood with, children to take her for dips in the creek, or even the occasional ‘bye-bye’ car ride to McDonald's for an ice cream cone! This surely isn’t asking too much...that she be allowed to live,  and spend the rest of her life, loved and protected...instead of being abandoned at an Animal Control...where any day could be the day when her proverbial time is ‘up’ and young Pepper is taken out of existence forever. Although Pepper has been around other dogs at various times, the most ideal circumstance is that she be the only pet in the household...this would undoubtedly be the best scenario for our little girl. Mind you, this doesn’t mean that she is a bad dog, only that she relishes having her family members all to herself and not having to share! Nothing wrong with that, right?! PLEASE HELP GORGEOUS PEPPER...I am not too proud to beg on her behalf.  If you are reading this post, and might be inclined to offer any help whatsoever...I ask you to share, and tag as many of your acquaintances and friends...and ask them to share as well. This really is a wonderful little dog...and there HAS to be a place for her!  Please call the Daviess County AC in Owensboro KY at 270-685-8275 or email them at dcacanimals@yahoo.com. You will need to ask about filling out the online application to meet little Pepper; approval typically takes only 2-3 days. You may also text me (Deb) at 812-430-8009; I will be more than happy to talk to you. PLEASE HURRY...her time is nearly up! All it will take to change this little pup’s life and reality, is just one compassionate and motivated individual...and I am so hoping I can find that one person!”
