I have named my cars for decades.  I have owned Rhonda the Ram, Miss Celie the Chrysler 300, Jujubee the Jeep and others. I'm now the proud of owner of a newly named car, but more on that in a second.

In the meantime, meet Emma Thompson (from Owensboro, KY) and her vehicle Lucille.

Emma is a huge Kenny Rogers fan. Of course, Kenny had a massive hit with this song.

So, when it came time to name her 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, Emma tossed around a few contenders: Rueben, James and Lucille. It was her love of Kenny that carried Lucille across the finish line and, well, the bumper!

As it turns out, Emma and I are not alone in our love for naming our cars. A 2018 survey suggests that more than 40% of people in the country name their vehicles.

In 2020, BuyPower Card conducted a survey of Chevy, Buick, GMC and Cadillac owners and AOL published the findings.  Here's a quick, fun stat from that survey. 1 in 6 people surveyed (17%) admitted they like to name their vehicles.

And, just what are they naming them?  Here's the list from that survey and AOL recap.
