10 Movies That Were Filmed in Nashville

The first I ever spent any amount of time in Memphis, aside from driving through on vacation, was in 2007 when I visited St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for the Country Cares Seminar. I have to tell you, if you ever get a chance to go, it will immediately become one of the most enriching experiences of your life, if it doesn't go on and top the list.

During our downtime (and there never is very much), we hung out on Beale Street where all the amazing blues clubs are. While I enjoyed the jams, I also got a kick out of recognizing a number of film locations from The Blues Brothers and The Firm. I had just seen the latter, an adaptation of a John Grisham thriller, so those sites were fresh in my mind.

One minute, it was, "Oh, there's the sidewalk where Tom Cruise did handsprings with that kid." The next, it was, "Oh, hey, there's that sandwich shop where the FBI agent played by Ed Harris freaked Tom Cruise out with pointed questions." And then, it was "Oh, there's where the bad guys chased Tom Cruise onto Mud Island."

But Memphis isn't the only major city where movies have been shot. You've heard of Nashville, right? Well, Music City, being one of the world's top entertainment destinations, has been a role player in a number of Hollywood productions, and rightly so.

If you see ANY movie about country music, usually biopics, Nashville will, more than likely, make an appearance on the big screen. Since I love visiting places where movies have been filmed, it's a nice bonus when visiting.
