Muhlenberg County Native Writes Sentimental Song About Losing His Dog

After losing his rescue dog, Jay McElwain put his grief into song to celebrate Buddy's life. It's all about grieving the loss of a best friend and pushing through the pain. Grab a tissue and listen to "Doggone Pain".

I had the pleasure of meeting Jay at a fundraiser in Muhlenberg County several years ago. He was performing at the event, and I was the emcee. It was so impressive how he could tell stories through his music. I love following him on social media to see what music he will post next. I especially loved seeing images of Buddy playing and living his best pup life! I grew up with many pups like Buddy. We lived in the country and had many beagles on the property. More than one looked just like Buddy. Beagles are just so playful, energetic, and loving souls.

Jay is a talented singer-songwriter who wrote this song about Bremen after tornadoes swept through the town devastating everyone and everything in its path. It has been shared hundreds of times since its post.

This is what Jay had to share after filming the video. "I put this song together quickly this afternoon (30 min and 1 take) prior to heading to Bremen again this evening to assist the Sheriff's Department, so it's probably not the best rendition. It is simply meant to encourage and uplift in this time of tragedy."
