I am typically a midtown "city person" on a daily basis, but a time or two each week, I venture out to the 54 area. I know it isn't that far, and compared to big cities, you can get just about anywhere in a decent amount of time.  For whatever reason, I feel like I need to plan all of my errands out that way for the same day.

Not too long ago, my son and I went to Five Below in Gateway Commons to piddle around and noticed the construction happening along the shopping center strip. Quite a few new developments have been announced over the past couple of years, and they are getting down to business.

Clothes Shopping in Owensboro

I asked one of the workers if she knew what store was going up right next to them, and she excitedly said, "Boot Barn!" I'm looking forward to seeing the town decked out and lookin' good. A Buckle, Old Navy, and Carter's will make their appearances as well, so we will finally have some better clothing options around here after living without an actual mall for so long.

Publix in Owensboro

As excited as I am about new clothes shopping opportunities, I'm even more pumped for the Publix! The Gateway Commons location will be built first, and then the west side will finally get some love, as a second Publix has also been announced near the corner of Carter and W. Parrish Ave.

I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering where all of the new stores in the Hwy 54 area will be located. Developers Gulfstream Commercial Services recently shared a video that shows a projected view of Gateway Commons once everything is built and open for business.
