What It’s Like to Ride Over Owensboro with the Northern Stars Aerobatic Team
It's Owensboro Air Show week and the teams performing in this year's show spent Thursday flying into town for the big three-day event. Earlier Thursday, this year's marquee team- the U.S. Navy Blue Angels- arrived at Mid-America Jet. We were there to welcome them back to town.
The Blue Angels are headlining the field for the Owensboro Air Show, which runs 12:30pm to 4pm Saturday, September 14th and Sunday, September 15th. Check out our interview with Logistics Specialist 1st Class Petty Officer Blake Thompson.
Also making a lot of noise and thrilling spectators this weekend will be the F-35A Lightning Demo Team. They flew in Thursday too.
I got the opportunity to spend some time on the ground and in the air with another Owensboro Air Show Team. The Northern Stars are here in town for the first time ever and the team features three veteran Royal Canadian Air Force pilots- Brent Handy, Todd Farrell and Greg Hume-Powell. All three fly side-by-side-by-side in the classic Pitts Special.
I got to climb in one Thursday evening and fly with the team.
I was joined by Syndey from Eyewitness News and Clay from Hot 96. We had a blast! Look at this killer pic!
