The public is getting its first official look at the newly redesigned and reopened Smothers Park this weekend.  The park was officially unveiled last night during a special edition of Friday After Five!  Today, folks are invited downtown to see the new park, then turn their eyes to the sky!  The Owensboro Air Show is ready to soar into action!!

The big day begins this morning from 8am to 11, with static displays and an open house at the Owensboro Regional Airport.  Then at 1:00pm, the public is invited downtown to the Ohio River in as seasoned pilot-performers showcase vintage aircraft and amazing aerobatic maneuvers. Like these:

Trojan Horsemen

Red Eagle Air Sports

Red Star and The Dragon

Bill Stein in the Zivko Edge 540, this is nuts!

And, the Valiant Echoes

Your announcer will be Air Show Hall of Famer Danny Clisham. In addition to the show, the following aircraft will be on display at the airport: F-15 Eagle, SK-61 Bulldog, and a UH 60 Black Hawk Helicopter.

The Air Show is free, however, a limited number of tickets are available for anyone wanting to experience the Air Show from the comfort of the RiverPark Center. Tickets and parking passes (also in a limited quantity) are available at City Hall, or any Independence Bank location in Daviess County. Tickets are $20 (children 5 and younger are free). Audience members to can view the air show from Smothers Park and English Park.
