The skies above Smothers Park, English Park, and the Ohio River will roar again as the Owensboro Air Show returns September 20-21. And this year, not only will you be able to see all the exciting aerobatics, you will be able to hear it as well.

It all kicks off Friday night, 4:00pm-9:00pm at the Owensboro Regional Airport, where you will be able to get up close and personal with some of the aircraft and pilots who will be performing this year. As the sun sets, spectators will get a taste of the action with a few performers taking to the sky in a nighttime air show. Admission is $2.00 per person with kids 10 and under getting in FREE. There will be food and drink vendors on site.

Saturday, September 21st, at 1:00pm, the main event gets underway with all eyes on the skies above the Ohio River in downtown Owensboro where performers will shocase vintage warbirds, military jets, and aerobatic demonstrations.

Headlining this year's airshow is the Royal Canadian Air Force CF-18 demo team. Take a look!

The Lima Lima Flight Team are new to this year's show and they will be performing at the Airport Friday night and the main show on Saturday. Here's a sample of their nighttime aerobatics.

See a piece of Hollywood history with the Tora 101, piloted by Douglas "Hollywood" Jackson. Twentieth Century Fox Studio purchased the plane in 1968 for the Pearl Harbor attack hit film Tora! Tora! Tora! Here's the Tora 101 in a mock dogfight.

Also new to the show this year is another legend in military aviation. Scott "Scooter" Yoak will pilot the QuickSilver P-51 over Owensboro. Listen for its distinct whitsle.

Another team pulling double duty Friday night and Saturday, is the Oregon Aero SkyDancer team of Steve Oliver and Suzanne Asbury-Oliver. The Olivers are the world's only skywriting, aerobatic, and pyrobatic duo. The SkyDancer will turn into the FireDancer on Friday night.

Other Air Show performers include Billy Werth, Gary Ward, and the E Team Skydivers. The Skydivers will be making their second straight appearance in Owensboro.

Did I write something about being able to hear this year's show? Yes! Our sister station 1490 WOMI will carry a live simulcast of this year's airshow. However, if you are on site, you can still hear all the action by downloading our Radio Pup app for your iPhone or Android device.

Essential info for this year's show: There will be NO reserved seating. All viewing areas at English and Smothers Parks will be on a first come first served basis. Parking for the event will also be limited to the 1st and 2nd levels of the parking garage on Daviess St. In other words, grab your chair and binoculars, and get ready for the show of a lifetime!
