Kentucky Bluegrass Trio Create a Fun and Tasty Jingle for Owensboro Burger Week
Meet the Bluegrass Brothers! They made an impromptu appearance at Gary's Drive-In Friday evening to perform their brand new song- a song inspired by and written for Owensboro Burger Week.
The Bluegrass Brothers are Cruse Edwards (almost 13), Noah Mason (13) and Parker Malone (12). By the way, Noah is the bass player. Parker is playing the mandolin. Cruse is the singer/songwriter/guitar player in the video you'll see below. The boys were challenged by a Tristate television personality to write a jingle for Burger Week.
Ange Humphrey, who hosts Local Lifestyles on WEHT, reached our to Parker's dad, Jarrod. Parker's older brother, Cameron, has become "local famous" for his inventive Burger Week photos. See, during Owensboro Burger Week residents are urged to share fun 'burger' photos on social media. Here's a sample Cameron photo.
Well, this year, Ange issued her challenge to Cameron's younger brother Parker and his bluegrass trio. Last Thursday, the Bluegrass Brothers were playing a show with the Kentucky Wesleynan College orchestra. When that gig ended, Parker's dad told them about Ange's request and they loved it. Cruse went home and had the song written before he went to bed that night. When the boys got out of school Friday, they met up to arrange it. By 5pm Friday, the first day of Owensboro Burger Week, the 'bun' was out of the oven and ready to roll! The jingle was finished and ready for its world premiere.
Jarrod called his buddy Jason Pickrell, who owns Gary's Drive-In here in Owensboro. He asked if Gary's had time for a one-minute live concert. Because of Burger Week, Gary's was slammed even more than usual, but Jason said, "Bring them on down and I'll start a burger for the shoot!"
Gary's, by the way, is competing in Owensboro Burger Week as well with their High Octane Burger.
That burger looks (and is) delicious. Here's the official description from OwensboroBurgerWeek.com.
We start with our 4 oz, fresh hamburger patty coated with a sharp, savory Big Turkey Foot coffee rub. We top it with a slice of rich provolone cheese and a crunchy, thin slice of granny smith apple. We don’t stop there. You asked and we listened, Memaw Pickrell’s slaw is back and will add a crisp, salty taste to polish it off. Sweet, creamy whipped cream cheese will cover the top and bottom of the fresh, baked-daily brioche bun. You will Savor the Flavor of this one; you don’t want to miss it!
There were lots of High Octane Burger lovers at Gary's when the Bluegrass Brothers stopped by and debuted their new 'high octane' Owensboro Burger Week song. Jarrod says, " I asked all the patrons around if anyone cared for a little music or if they might end up on social media. They were all excited and had no issue. It was really cool."
Here's the video of their performance!
