Owensboro Family Fishing Trip Turns Into Carp Chaos [VIDEO]
Between the end of summer and the long Labor Day weekend, a lot of families have been enjoying the outdoors. Especially water related activities, swimming, boating, fishing.
The Carter family likes to spend as much time as they can outside. Mom of three adorable littles, Emily, told me, "My boys love all things involving dirt. My son, Henry, has been jug fishing several time this summer and really enjoyed it."
Emily and Brandon decided it would be fun to take the kiddos, 2nd grader Reece, Preschooler Henry, and Thomas, the youngest out on a John boat. So, they purchased said boat and not two hours later, they were on the water. Decked in their life vests on a private pond in West Daviess County.
Not even two MINUTES after floating off, the fish started to get, well... friendly. Reece and Thomas were noticeably a little nervous, but hanging in there. That's when total chaos broke out.
And Emily set the scene to the most perfect song on her TikTok page.

An enormous Asian Carp leapt from the water into the boat whacking poor Henry in the face, back towards his daddy, and into the floor of the boat. The other two kiddos were also flopped and flapped by fish fins in the ruckus immediately hopping onto their mama's lap.
I can't believe they caught this on camera! I don't know what's funnier, the actual fish flying, little Henry's feet flying up in the air, the screaming, the song Emily chose to accompany the chaos...Her video has already gotten over a million views on Tiktok. Probably because of how many times I have watched it. Over and over, and there is something new and hilarious to notice every time. This would win an America's Funniest Videos prize, no doubt.
The Carter family did not throw their new friend back in the water. Asian Carp is an invasive (and RUDE!) species of fish and when the Green River floods, they make their way to this pond and others in the area. Emily told me that once the kids recovered from being startled by the flying fish and watched the video, they actually thought it was pretty hilarious. “I think they will get back on it, just not at that pond.”
We got to chat with Emily this morning about what you don't see in the video and how the kiddos are doing now that they are "famous" from their fish attack. So funny!
