The American Red Cross has been serving Daviess County and surrounding areas since 1917 and, this year, celebrates its 100th anniversary!  And, to honor the occasion, the local agency is seeking one hundred volunteers to help with the Home Fire Preparedness Campaign in March!

The Home Fire Campaign is set for Saturday, March 25th and will volunteers (hopefully 100 of them) will be knocking on doors in a neighborhood selected by the Owensboro Fire Department to ask about smoke alarms and their knowledge of home fire prevention. Volunteers are needed to help knock on those doors, install smoke alarms, talk about home fire safety and more.

In the estimation of the American Red Cross:

More volunteers = more homes visited = more smoke alarms installed = more lives potentially saved.  Recently, nine family members in Madisonville escaped their home alive thanks to their Red Cross installed smoke alarm.  This program works and the staff needs YOU to make sure it continues to work.

And, there will be a picnic following the event.
