Legendary Itzhak Perlman To Perform Iconic Film Scores With Owensboro Symphony Orchestra
A sixteen-time Grammy Award-winning musician is coming to Owensboro! The Owensboro Symphony Orchestra revealed its 2026-2027 concert schedule this afternoon and music fans are thrilled to learn that legendary violinist Itzhak Perlman will join the OSO for Cinema Serenade, an evening which will feature music from movies like The Godfather, Gone with the Wind, Doctor Zhivago, Schindler's List, and more.
Cinema Serenade is one of five shows announced as part of the upcoming subscription season. The season will kick off in October with Halloween Classics. The season opener marks the start of Music Director Troy Quinn's tenth season with the Owensboro Symphony.

Halloween Classics will feature scores from some 'scary' cinematic favorites like The Witches of Eastwick, Vertigo, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and The Phantom of the Opera. Plus, and this is some shameless self-promotion, I will be performing "The Monster Mash" with the entire orchestra. I cannot wait!
The season continues with a concert that is a perennial holiday favorite. Home for the Holidays will feature special guest vocalist Colin Eaton, who'll be performing Santa Claus Is Coming To Town!
Other special guests include the Owensboro Symphony Chorus and the Owensboro Symphony Youth Orchestra.
Up next will be a concert called Journey to the New World, which features acclaimed pianist Janice Carissa.
Selections will include Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, Symphony #9 in E Minor, Edelweiss, and more.
Then, audiences will be treated to a night of Orchestra Unleashed!
This action-packed show will feature selections from Jaws, Jurassic Park, the Overture from La Gazza Ladra, and music from popular children's films like Ratatouille and The Jungle Book.
The season, sponsored by Owensboro Health, will conclude with the highly-anticipated Itzhak Perlman: Cinema Serenade. Maestro Quinn says, "Itzhak Perlman is truly one of the great artists of our time. Having him join us for this program is an extraordinary moment for our orchestra and community."
Season tickets are on sale now! There is also a 'flexible option' that allows patrons to select any three concerts of their choosing for $185. Some exclusions apply. Season tickets are available through the Owensboro Symphony website or by calling the Owensboro Symphony office at 270-684-0661.
