We are fortunate here in Owensboro to have multiple Little Free Libraries and blessing boxes sprinkled around town. They are all in desperate need of books and supplies.  Can you help?

Have you heard of the Little Free Library?  Here is what the national organization says it is;

Little Free Library is a nonprofit organization that inspires a love of reading, builds community, and sparks creativity by fostering neighborhood book exchanges around the world.

It has been proven that children who do not have access to reading materials are academically three years behind those that do.  These libraries not only give children access to free reading materials but also adults.

The way it works is you can go to the little library and take a book completely free.  If you have the opportunity you can also return a book.  Anyone can donate books as well.

Please make sure books are appropriate and in good condition.  Remember children will have access to these Little Libraries!

If you would like to donate to the blessing boxes here are the items needed;

  • Ramen Noodles
  • Spaghetti Noodles
  • Canned Soups
  • Packaged Crackers
  • Non-Perishable Food Items
  • Waters
  • Toiletry Items
  • Sanitary Items
  • Hygiene Items

Owensboro has 4 little libraries and a few blessings boxes.  Little libraries are located at  Smothers Park near the playground on 20th Street between Jr. Miller and Frederica Street, one at 1733 Tamarack Road and one on Wintergreen Loop North on the West Side.  The blessings boxes are located at Germantown Park and off 502 Poplar Street.

I know our family has an abundance of books and canned goods and snacks we can share in our home.  We will be doing a bit of purging this week so we can donate!
