The Daviess County Public Library is currently experiencing technical issues after a ransomware attack hit on Sunday, forcing the library to close.

Ransomware is one of the three most common malware threats in recent cyber attacks. The hacker takes over the system and demands ransom, in the form of usually cyber currency such as bitcoin.

As of now, the library is operating with normal hours and programs. However, patrons will not be able to check in or check out any items until the technical issues are completely resolved. Those who have items due back will not be fined during this time.

Library officials plan to have their total operations back to normal on Tuesday.
