Since 2017, the River Kitty Café has been a unique and thriving operation in downtown Evansville. And the name says it all...it's a café--and a very cool, atmospheric one at that--where you can hang out with cats. Lots of cats.

The River Kitty Café in Downtown Evansville

Before we go on, let me clarify something. At the River Kitty Café, the menu doesn't feature anything like lunch items; it's a place to chill and enjoy a beverage--smoothies, coffees, energy drinks, wine, and beer are all available--AND sink your teeth into some wonderful desserts. Muffins, brownies, and macarons are specialties of the River Kitty Café...ESPECIALLY those macarons. But we'll get to those later.

What makes the River Kitty Café extra special is that you don't just get to enjoy the company of some very well-behaved and playful felines, but you have an opportunity to adopt them, as well. You see, it's owned by the Vanderburgh Humane Society. Check out the cafe's live stream, and you'll see where visitors get to play with these very cool cats.

Last week, the Tri-State Bucket List ventured into downtown Evansville and paid a visit. We enjoyed some amazing macarons and hung out with some amazing cats. Take a look:

The Unboxing of New Cats at River Kitty Café

Since a visit to the River Kitty Café is such a cool, out-of-the-box experience, it's fitting that the "unboxing" of new arrivals is a pretty big event at the café. As you can see, the humans aren't the only ones who get excited:

The Vanderburgh Humane Society's cat adoption fee is $80. If you'd like to know more, click here, and then enjoy a brand new furry friend...or two...or three...or...you get the idea.
