Roxie’s Legacy Will Live On and Always Be Remembered [TRIBUTES]

So many messages have flooded social media to pay tribute to a life cut short. Mourners recall the heart, mind, soul, spirit and life of Roxie Pickrell.

Last night I went to the visitation for Roxie at the funeral home. I made my way into the overflowing room to find some of the most courageous and inspiring people you could ever meet. Jason and Cathy stood stoic, greeting every visitor with grace. Sharing memories and stories about their sweet girl. As they spoke, you could see the "half smile" on their faces. Part smile for the amazing little girl that they raised and loved, and the other half for the beautiful young girl that they've just lost. The loss is still hard to grasp. Roxie Pickrell was just 13 years-old, when she passed away just days ago. She had so much promise and so much more to give.

Over the last month many have asked me. How well do you know this family? Are you related? Why do you care so much? Well, to me it's quite simple. We should ALL care about each other SO much. "In good times and in bad. In sickness and in health. Until death do us part." It's not just wedding vows. It vows to be a better, more kind and caring person, for anyone that needs it. What do you want your legacy to be?

As tributes pour in and fundraisers continue, please remember to be kind to one another in Roxie's name. She was one of the kindest and sweetest souls. Let's keep her legacy alive. Thoughts and prayers continue for her entire family, her friends, schoolmates and everyone who loved this beautiful angel. We may not understand why this happened, but we can hold on to each other as a community, and celebrate her life.
