A couple of Saturdays ago, I got the chance to meet Sarah Beth Brewer. The singer-songwriter from Madisonville, Kentucky (originally Dawson Springs) was in Owensboro playing a set at PorchFest OBKY. My booth was set up a yard over from where she was playing and I got the opportunity to hear her for the first time.

I was instantly struck by a couple of things. Because I have worked in radio for nearly 30 years and have been to and emceed more concerts than I can count, I am always mindful of set lists. I was impressed with how Sarah Beth crafted hers for that event. It was tailor-made for her front-yard audience and the folks strolling by the porch where she was playing.

I was also struck by the tone of her voice, her control, and some of the stylistic decisions she was making. Instead of just standing there belting out every song, she was showing off all the facets of her voice- from the belt to her impeccable head voice.

I was an instant fan and got the chance to meet her after she wrapped up her set.

Sarah Beth's been incredibly busy lately in the best possible way.

Doors opened for her after she performed the National Anthem at a PBR/Rally Points event at the Ford Center in Evansville. It was that encounter with Rally Points' Lance Yearby that paved the way for some cool opportunities.

In the last couple of years, she has taken the stage to open for folks like ERNEST, Deana Carter, Colt Ford, William Michael Morgan, and Sons of Habit. She's also performed three different pre-parties at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville for artists like Riley Green, Zach Top, and Brooks & Dunn.

This morning, Sarah Beth previewed some new music on the WBKR Morning Show. One of the songs she performed is "What I Can't Have." Sarah Beth says it serves up Lee Ann Womack kinda vibes.  Here's video of her performance from the show. Take a listen!

She also performed a song called "TN in D."

Sarah Beth is about to head into the recording studio to lay down some new music. She intends to record the two aforementioned songs as part of an ambitious project. Sarah Beth's plan is to release two separate EPs over the next year- one will feature songs about heartbreak and the other will highlight the "healed" version of herself.

Sarah Beth says, "I have worked really hard for all the things that are unfolding." And, well, they're most definitely unfolding.

She has some incredible gigs lined up this summer and fall. Among the highlights: opening for Lorrie Morgan this weekend at the Nashville Palace, playing The Red, White, and Boots Festival in August with Ole 60, Craig Campbell, Mark Wills, and more in Huntingburg, and opening for Kelsey Hart's homecoming concert in September at Lu-Ray Amphitheatre in Central City.
